In Kenya, rice production is constrained by various biotic and abiotic stresses such as drought, cold weather at high elevations, saline soil, low soil fertility, and rice blast disease. In order to improve rice productivity and yield stability, this study aims to improve existing cultivation technologies. Through the analysis of the interactions among genotypes, cultivation environments, and management practices, breeding lines carrying useful stress-resistant genes/QTLs and cultivation technologies that maximize the potential of individual rice varieties were developed.
